Fabric-reinforced inflatable seals for applications where conventional gaskets cannot provide a reliable, repeatable seal. ISO-Flate pharma series for GMP cleanrooms and autoclaves. Marine series for hatch closures and watertight doors. Custom profiles in silicone, EPDM and neoprene. UK-manufactured. Globally-supported.
An inflatable seal is a hollow, fabric-reinforced elastomeric profile that is pressurised with air, nitrogen or water to create a seal against a mating surface. Unlike a conventional gasket, which requires bolt load to create a seal, an inflatable seal creates sealing force uniformly around its entire perimeter — with no bolt load required.
When the door, hatch or access panel needs to open, the inflatable seal is fully deflated. The elastomeric profile collapses against its groove, creating clearance for the door to swing or slide freely. No mechanical friction. No wear from opening cycles.
When the door closes, compressed air, nitrogen or water is introduced into the seal at low pressure — typically 1 to 4 bar. The seal inflates uniformly around its entire profile, pressing against the mating surface and creating a reliable, leak-free closure on every cycle.
The inflated seal conforms to minor irregularities in the mating surface — compensating for surface imperfections, thermal distortion, and dimensional tolerances that would cause leakage with a conventional gasket or mechanical door seal.
Our inflatable seal range serves two fundamentally different Global markets — each with its own material requirements, regulatory standards, and buyer profiles.
GMP-compliant inflatable seals for pharmaceutical cleanroom doors, autoclave door seals, isolator seals, and containment chambers. FDA-approved compound options available.
Fabric-reinforced inflatable seals for marine hatch covers, watertight door closures, access panels on offshore platforms, and bulkhead penetration seals. EPDM and neoprene compounds.
The elastomeric compound is the most critical material decision for an inflatable seal. The wrong compound fails prematurely — through chemical attack, temperature degradation, or hardening from UV or ozone exposure.
Other compounds available: NBR (nitrile — oil and fuel resistance) · FKM / Viton (chemical resistance, high temperature) · Natural rubber (high flexibility, low temperature). Custom compound formulations for specialist chemical environments on request.
