Description

Two flange mating surfaces have microscopic defects on their surfaces in general. A mechanical gasket is used to prevent leakage from or into the joined objects while under compression to fill certain microscopic irregularities. Such a gasket is called a gasket with a flange. Flange gaskets act as a static seal between the two irregular flange faces and are made to operate with varying pressure and temperature ratings under different operating conditions.

TYPES

Ring Gaskets:

Ring gaskets, as the name suggests, look like flat rings. They come with an inner (ID), outer (OD) diameter and thickness. Rubber Seals & Gaskets can produce customized ring gaskets in a variety of materials such as Silicone, EPDM, Viton, Nitrile, etc. If the gasket has a large diameter, the manufacturing process may include direct molding (endless gaskets), typically favored for small size gaskets or splicing and vulcanization. It depends on the requirements of the company.

Full-Face Gasket:

A full-face gasket is similar to a ring gasket except that bolt holes are aligned at the Pitch Circle Dimeter (PCD) in a bolt circle. Both ring gaskets and full-face gaskets are available in metric and standard sizes and in different thicknesses. Depending on the application, materials will vary. All gaskets are made using our high-speed, high-precision die cutting equipment in-house to produce products that meet your exact needs.

Below are the typical flange sizes, together with the different dimensions for Ring and Full Face Gaskets. For Rubber Flange Gaskets, the normal thickness is: 1/4 “(6.35 mm) or 1/8” (3.175 mm) or 1/16 “(1.5 mm).
