Type CHG (Critical High Pressure) Insulation Gasket

Type CHG (Critical High Pressure) Insulation Gasket

Core Features

  • Metallic Core Reinforcement: The CHG is a “High-Reliability” gasket featuring a 316 Stainless Steel core (standard, other alloys available) bonded with high-strength G-10 or G-11 Epoxy Glass laminates. This metal core provides the structural “muscle” to prevent blowout, while the laminate provides 100% electrical isolation.
  • Spring-Energized Sealing Elements: Designed for “Zero-Leak” performance, the CHG incorporates precision-machined grooves on both faces that house Spring-Energized PTFE seals. The internal stainless steel spring ensures constant “push” against the flange face, even during pressure fluctuations or thermal cycling.
  • High-Pressure Mastery: Engineered specifically for the most demanding environments, the CHG is rated for service in ANSI Class 150# through 2500# and API 2,000 to 10,000 PSI applications.
  • Extreme Chemical Immunity: The combination of G-10/G-11 and PTFE seals offers near-universal resistance to CO2, H2S (Sour Gas), hydrocarbons, and aggressive production chemicals across the 0–14 pH range.
  • Anti-Static & Dielectric Security: With a dielectric strength of over 500 Volts/Mil, the CHG effectively blocks galvanic current, ensuring your cathodic protection (CP) system remains localized and efficient.

At Kriloha Ltd., we recognize that in “Critical-Service” sealing, there is no room for a “weak link.” When a pipeline is operating at 5,000 PSI, the insulation kit must be as structurally sound as the pipe itself. The SUNWELL Type CHG Insulation Gasket is our engineered answer for “Fail-Safe” isolation. As a premier global provider of high-integrity seals, Kriloha Gaskets has selected the CHG design for its unique Triple-Barrier protection: the metal core for strength, the G-10 for isolation, and the spring-energized PTFE for containment.

The engineering of our CHG series is based on Pressure-Assisted Energy. Unlike standard flat gaskets that rely solely on bolt load, the CHG uses the internal line pressure to further “energize” the PTFE seals against the flange face. At Kriloha, we ensure the stainless steel core is chemically bonded to the laminate layers to prevent delamination during vacuum service or rapid decompression. This creates a “Rigid-Resilient” barrier that stops both current and fluid.

Manufacturing these kits at Kriloha involves strict Hydrostatic and Dielectric Verification. We ensure that every kit dispatched meets the rigorous standards required for high-risk energy infrastructure. Whether you are isolating a subsea manifold or a refinery reactor, SUNWELL Type CHG Insulation Gaskets provide the mechanical invincibility and electrical agility your facility demands. By choosing Kriloha Ltd., you are investing in a “High-Security” technology that protects your most valuable assets from the silent threat of corrosion.

Primary Use Cases

  • High-Pressure Gas Transmission: The industry standard for isolating high-pressure headers and mainline valves where “searching gases” (like hydrogen or methane) are present.
  • Offshore Production Platforms: Providing a rugged, corrosion-resistant seal for subsea injection lines and topside manifolds.
  • Sour Service (H2S) Pipelines: Utilizing the inert properties of PTFE and G-10 to prevent hydrogen-induced cracking and galvanic pitting.
  • Dissimilar Metal Flanges: Essential for preventing the “Battery Effect” when connecting exotic alloy valves to carbon steel piping systems.
  • Cryogenic & High-Temp Service: The G-11 variant maintains its mechanical integrity and insulating properties from cryogenic temperatures up to +200°C.

FAQs

What makes the CHG “Blowout-Proof”?

The internal Stainless Steel core acts as a permanent structural bulkhead. Even if the insulating laminate were somehow damaged, the metal core remains clamped between the flanges, preventing a catastrophic high-pressure leak.

Can I use the CHG on Raised-Face (RF) and RTJ flanges?

The CHG is primarily designed for Raised-Face (RF) flanges. For RTJ (Ring Type Joint) flanges, we typically recommend our Type D phenolic or G-10 rings, though specialized CHG variants can be custom-machined for certain grooves.

Why use G-11 instead of G-10?

G-10 is the standard for most applications up to +150°C. G-11 is a “High-Retention” material that maintains nearly 50% of its mechanical strength at temperatures up to +200°C, making it better for steam or hot hydrocarbon lines.

Are the seals replaceable?

While the G-10/Metal retainer is very durable, Kriloha recommends replacing the PTFE sealing elements every time the flange is disassembled to ensure a fresh, bubble-tight seal.

What is included in the full Kriloha CHG I.K. Set?

The complete kit includes: (1) CHG Gasket with seals, (1) G-10/Mylar Insulating Sleeve per bolt, (2) G-10 Insulating Washers per bolt, and (2) Zinc-Plated Steel Backup Washers per bolt.
