Type CHG High-Pressure Insulation Gasket

Type CHG High-Pressure Insulation Gasket

Core Features

  • High-Pressure Reliability: The Type CHG (often referred to as a “Critical High-Pressure Gasket”) is engineered for extreme sealing environments, particularly in high-pressure oil and gas applications where standard phenolic gaskets may fail.
  • Stainless Steel Core with G-10/G-11 Laminate: The gasket features a 316 Stainless Steel core bonded with high-strength G-10 or G-11 Epoxy Glass laminates on both sides. This provides the mechanical “muscle” of a metal gasket with the electrical isolation of a high-dielectric polymer.
  • Spring-Energized PTFE Sealing Element: Unlike standard flat gaskets, the Type CHG incorporates a precision-machined groove on both faces that houses a Spring-Energized PTFE seal (or an elastomeric O-ring like Viton/Nitrile). This ensures a “bubble-tight” seal even under low bolt loads or fluctuating pressures.
  • Anti-Blowout Design: The internal metal core acts as a permanent blowout protector. Even if the insulating laminate were to be compromised by extreme heat or chemical attack, the metal core remains to prevent a catastrophic loss of containment.
  • Near-Zero Water Absorption: The G-10/G-11 surfaces are virtually non-porous, preventing the “wicking” of moisture that can lead to electrical bridging and a loss of cathodic protection.
  • Wide pH Compatibility: Highly resistant to H2S (Sour Gas), CO2, hydrocarbons, and aggressive production chemicals across a pH range of 0–14 (depending on the chosen seal element).

At Kriloha Ltd., we recognize that in “Critical-Service” sealing, there is no room for compromise. When you are dealing with high-pressure gas or volatile chemicals, you need an insulation kit that behaves like a structural component of the pipe itself. The SUNWELL Type CHG Insulation Gasket is our engineered answer for “Zero-Leak” high-pressure containment. As a premier global provider of flange isolation technology, Kriloha Gaskets has selected the CHG design for its unique Hybrid-Core resilience.

The engineering of our CHG series is based on Pressure-Assisted Sealing. While standard flat gaskets rely solely on bolt torque to compress the material, the CHG utilizes the internal line pressure to “energize” the PTFE seals against the flange face. At Kriloha, we ensure that the stainless steel core is chemically bonded to the G-10/G-11 layers to prevent delamination under vacuum or thermal cycling. This creates a “Rigid-Resilient” barrier that stops both current and fluid.

Manufacturing these kits at Kriloha involves strict Hydrostatic and Dielectric Testing. We verify that the spring-energized seals meet “Zero-Leak” standards before the kits are dispatched. Whether you are isolating a subsea injection line or a high-pressure refinery header, SUNWELL Type CHG Insulation Gaskets provide the mechanical invincibility and electrical agility your facility demands. By choosing Kriloha Ltd., you are investing in a “Fail-Safe” technology that secures your highest-value infrastructure against corrosion and leakage.

Primary Use Cases

    • High-Pressure Transmission Lines: The industry standard for isolating high-pressure gas and oil pipelines (ANSI 600# to 2500#).
    • Critical “Searching-Gas” Service: Used in hydrogen, helium, and light hydrocarbon lines where standard gaskets are prone to microscopic leaks.
    • Offshore Production Manifolds: Providing durable isolation in corrosive salt-spray environments where mechanical vibration is constant.
    • Wellhead Isolation: Specifically designed for the high-pressure interface between the Christmas tree and the production flowline.

High-Temperature Petrochemical Processing: Utilizing the G-11 variant to maintain isolation in heat exchangers and reactors up to +200°C.

FAQs

Why is the Type CHG better than a standard G-10 gasket?

A standard G-10 gasket is a solid piece of laminate. The CHG has a stainless steel core, which makes it much stronger, prevents blowout, and allows it to handle much higher pressures (up to 10,000 PSI in some configurations).

Can I reuse a Type CHG gasket?

While the metal core and G-10 laminate are durable, Kriloha recommends replacing the PTFE sealing elements if the flange is disassembled. Reusing the entire gasket is generally not recommended for high-pressure service.

Does it fit standard Raised-Face (RF) flanges?

Yes. The Type CHG is designed to fit within the bolt circle of standard ASME B16.5 and B16.47 raised-face flanges, similar to a Type F configuration.

What is the benefit of a “Spring-Energized” seal?

Standard seals can lose their “push” over time due to compression set. A Spring-Energized seal uses an internal stainless steel spring to constantly push the PTFE jacket against the flange, ensuring a seal even if the bolt load relaxes slightly.

What comes in the full I.K. Set?

The Kriloha CHG Kit includes: (1) CHG Gasket with seals, (1) G-10 Insulating Sleeve per bolt, (2) G-10 Insulating Washers per bolt, and (2) Zinc-Plated Steel Washers per bolt.
