Type CLG (Common Low Pressure) Insulation Gasket

Type CLG (Common Low Pressure) Insulation Gasket

Core Features

  • High-Dielectric Phenolic Retainer: Manufactured from premium Fabric-Reinforced Phenolic resin. This material provides excellent compressive strength and high electrical resistance, effectively breaking the galvanic path between flanges.
  • Twin-Seal Technology: The CLG features a specialized “double-hump” elastomeric sealing element (typically Nitrile, EPDM, or Viton) bonded to both faces of the phenolic retainer. This design ensures a secure, leak-proof seal even on flanges with minor surface imperfections or lower bolt loads.
  • Moisture-Resistant Laminate: The phenolic base is treated with a non-wicking finish to prevent the absorption of water or soil moisture, which is critical for preventing “electrical tracking” in buried or submerged pipelines.
  • Low-Torque Seating: Designed to achieve a “Bubble-Tight” seal at significantly lower bolt loads than metallic gaskets. This protects cast iron and ductile iron flanges from cracking during installation.
  • Broad Chemical Resilience: Highly resistant to water, brine, wastewater, mild acids, and the various hydrocarbons found in municipal and light industrial distribution systems.

At Kriloha Ltd., we recognize that “Total Protection” should be accessible for every stage of a pipeline, not just the high-pressure headers. For the miles of utility and distribution piping that form the backbone of industrial infrastructure, the SUNWELL CLG Insulation Gasket is our engineered answer for “Economic-Reliability.” As a premier provider of pipeline integrity products, Kriloha Gaskets has optimized the CLG set to provide the longest possible lifespan in standard atmospheric and buried environments.

The engineering of our CLG series is based on Surface Conformability. Many utility flanges are older or made of less rigid materials like cast iron. The CLG’s twin elastomeric seals are designed to “crush” and fill voids at much lower torque values than G-10 or metallic-core gaskets. At Kriloha, we ensure the phenolic retainer is precision-machined to match standard ANSI B16.5 and AWWA dimensions, ensuring a perfect fit every time.

Manufacturing these kits at Kriloha involves strict Dielectric Integrity Testing. We verify that every phenolic batch maintains its insulation properties even under high-humidity conditions. Whether you are isolating a municipal water main or a light-duty chemical transfer line, SUNWELL CLG Insulation Gaskets provide the mechanical simplicity and electrical agility your facility demands. By choosing Kriloha Ltd., you are investing in a “Zero-Maintenance” technology that secures your utility infrastructure for decades.

Primary Use Cases

  • Municipal Water & Wastewater: The standard choice for isolating pumps, storage tanks, and treatment plant piping to ensure cathodic protection remains localized.
  • Gas Distribution Lines: Used in low-pressure residential and commercial gas service lines to isolate the meter and internal piping from the main supply.
  • Cooling Water Systems: Providing electrical isolation in industrial cooling towers and heat exchanger piping to prevent localized pitting and galvanic corrosion.
  • Dissimilar Metal Junctions: Preventing the “Battery Effect” where ductile iron or carbon steel pipe connects to copper, bronze, or stainless steel fittings.
  • Tank Farm Isolation: Sealing and isolating flange joints on storage tank manways and low-pressure nozzle connections.

FAQs

What is the main difference between CLG and CHG?

The CLG is a phenolic-based gasket for low-pressure utility service (Class 150/300). The CHG is a stainless steel-core gasket reinforced with G-10 for high-pressure critical service (up to Class 2500).

Can I use the CLG on a Raised-Face (RF) flange?

Yes. The CLG is available in both Type F (Ring Type) for raised-face flanges and Type E (Full Face) for flat-face flanges.

What is the temperature limit for the CLG?

The standard Fabric-Reinforced Phenolic retainer is rated for continuous service up to +120°C.

Is the CLG “Blowout-Proof”?

While it has excellent compressive strength for low-to-medium pressures, it does not have the internal metal core found in the CHG. For high-pressure “Critical” lines, Kriloha always recommends the CHG series.

What comes in the Kriloha CLG I.K. Set?

The set includes: (1) CLG Gasket with twin seals, (1) High-Dielectric Insulating Sleeve per bolt, (2) Insulating Washers per bolt, and (2) Zinc-Plated Steel Backup Washers per bolt.
