PTFE BONDED RUBBER PARTS

Description

PTFE, commonly known as Teflon ®, is extremely chemically inert, making it very hard to bind as it is by definition “non-stick.” In the history of Rubber Seals & Gaskets, successfully connecting PTFE and rubber has been an achievement. Rubber seals also need to be in contact with moving surfaces in order to effectively perform their sealing role. But this creates a lot of friction, which in turn results in the rubber seal’s wear and tear. Nevertheless, this problem was solved through the combination of rubber and PTFE. In providing an efficient and low friction seal, this bond was good. More PTFE comes with its high temperature and harsh chemical resistance, which are extremely unique properties. This can therefore be tightly sealed at the seal end, thereby preventing damage caused by overheating.

Silicone makes a great sealant with its unique properties to keep water and other solvents out at extreme temperatures. But, if Silicone has to be backed up with an adhesive tape, the problem arises. When prepared, it appears to repel the adhesive.Nevertheless, Rubber Seals & Gaskets has developed methods to apply adhesive bands to all Silicone and other profiles of rubber.
