Description
A washer is a mechanical seal used to seal two pieces of the mating. A rubber washer has a flat ring-like shape with an external diameter (O.D), an internal diameter (I.D) and a thickness used to create a tight seal between the two sections. This helps to eliminate vibration and sound between the pieces along with sealing. Although both perform similar functions, rubber washers are generally preferred to metal washers as they maintain better sealing as well as prevent corrosion when exposed to humid atmosphere or when the product is in contact with water or corrosive fluids.
