Graphite Packing (Metal Wire Reinforced)

Graphite Packing (Metal Wire Reinforced)

Core Features

  • Inconel or Stainless Steel Reinforcement: Each yarn is structurally integrated with a high-tensile Inconel or SS316 wire core. This metallic “skeleton” provides the ultimate mechanical strength required to resist high-pressure blowouts.
  • High-Purity Expanded Graphite: Braided from 99% carbon-content flexible graphite. The material contains no binders or fillers, ensuring it remains resilient and does not shrink or harden under intense thermal stress.
  • Anti-Extrusion Architecture: The wire reinforcement prevents the graphite from being “squeezed” or extruded through the clearance gaps of the stuffing box, even when subjected to extreme differential pressures.
  • Superior Thermal Conductivity: Efficiently draws heat away from the valve stem or pump shaft, preventing localized “hot spots” and protecting the hardware from thermal fatigue.
  • Passive Corrosion Inhibitor: Treated with a specialized Zinc-based inhibitor to prevent galvanic corrosion and pitting of stainless steel stems during storage or stagnant service.
  • Ultra-High Pressure Rating: Engineered to maintain a leak-proof seal at pressures exceeding 400 Bar (5,800 PSI) in static valve service.

At Kriloha Ltd., we recognize that in high-pressure steam service, “Softness” must be supported by “Strength.” A pure graphite packing is chemically perfect but can be physically weak under extreme pressure. The Kriloha Wire-Reinforced Graphite Packing is our engineered answer for “High-Stress” environments. As a premier global provider of industrial sealing solutions, Kriloha Gaskets has mastered the Multi-Strand Braiding technology required to fuse resilient graphite with industrial-grade alloys.

The engineering of Kriloha Reinforced Packing is based on Structural Integrity. In a standard packing, the gland pressure can force the graphite into the gaps between the stem and the stuffing box. Our Inconel-Wire core acts as a physical anchor, pinning the graphite yarns in place. This “Internal Reinforcement” ensures that the packing remains dimensionally stable, even during rapid thermal cycling or high-velocity steam surges.

Manufacturing this packing at Kriloha involves strict Alloy Verification. We utilize only high-nickel alloys for the wire to ensure it doesn’t become brittle or corrode at temperatures reaching +650°C (+1200°F). Whether you are sealing a high-pressure boiler header or a critical refinery isolation valve, Kriloha Wire-Reinforced Graphite Packing provides the mechanical invincibility and thermal stamina your facility demands. By choosing Kriloha Ltd., you are investing in a “Blowout-Proof” technology that ensures maximum safety and uptime for your high-pressure assets.

Primary Use Cases

  • High-Pressure Steam Isolation Valves: The industry standard for power plant main steam lines and high-pressure bypass systems.
  • Refinery Control Valves: Providing a high-integrity, fugitive emission-compliant seal for volatile hydrocarbons and hot oils.
  • Soot Blowers: Resisting the severe mechanical abrasion and thermal shocks found in industrial boiler cleaning cycles.
  • Nuclear Power Infrastructure: Utilized in primary and secondary loops where high-radiation resistance and blowout safety are mandatory.
  • High-Temperature Chemical Reactors: Sealing agitator shafts and valve stems handling aggressive media at elevated temperatures.

FAQs

Does the metal wire scratch the valve stem?

No. The wire is located in the core of the yarn and is surrounded by soft, lubricious graphite. When compressed, the graphite forms the primary contact surface, while the wire stays buried to provide structural support.

Can I use this packing in a centrifugal pump?

While it can be used, wire-reinforced packing is primarily designed for Valve Service (static/slow motion). For high-speed pumps, the wire can increase frictional heat; in those cases, Kriloha recommends our Flexible Graphite Packing (without wire).

What is the benefit of Inconel over Stainless Steel wire?

Inconel maintains its strength and resists oxidation much better than Stainless Steel at temperatures above 500°C. For extreme-pressure steam service, Inconel is the professional choice.

Is this packing “Fire-Safe”?

Absolutely. Because it consists entirely of inorganic graphite and high-performance metal alloys, it is inherently non-combustible and will maintain a seal even after a direct fire event.

How many rings should I install in a valve?

Typically, a high-pressure valve uses 5 to 7 rings. Kriloha often recommends using a Die-Formed Graphite Ring in the center of the stack with wire-reinforced rings at the top and bottom to act as “anti-extrusion” barriers.
