Santoprene Gaskets

Santoprene Gaskets

Core Features

  • High-Performance TPV Compound: Manufactured from Santoprene™, a high-performance Thermoplastic Vulcanizate (TPV) that combines the sealing properties and flexibility of vulcanized rubber with the processing ease of thermoplastics.
  • Exceptional Flex Fatigue Resistance: Engineered to withstand millions of flex cycles without cracking or losing structural integrity, making it the premier choice for dynamic sealing applications.
  • Broad Chemical Compatibility: Highly resistant to a wide variety of industrial fluids, including aqueous systems, many acids, bases, and specialized water-treatment chemicals.
  • Superior Thermal Stability: Maintains a consistent sealing “bite” across a wide temperature range, typically from -60°C to +135°C (-76°F to +275°F), without becoming brittle in extreme cold or soft in high heat.
  • Excellent Compression Set: Features high elastic recovery, ensuring the gasket “springs back” to maintain a tight seal even after long-term compression under varying bolt loads.
  • FDA & NSF Compliant: Naturally non-toxic and available in specific grades that meet FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and NSF/ANSI standards for potable water and food contact.

At Kriloha Ltd., we recognize that modern engineering often requires a material that bridges the gap between traditional thermoset rubber and high-tech plastics. The Kriloha Santoprene™ Gasket is our solution for high-durability, flexible sealing. As a premier global supplier of industrial seals, Kriloha Gaskets has mastered the precision Injection Molding and Extrusion processes required to harness the unique molecular structure of TPV materials.

The science behind Santoprene™ involves Dynamic Vulcanization. This process creates a stable matrix of fully vulcanized rubber particles dispersed within a continuous thermoplastic phase. At Kriloha, we utilize this “Hybrid” architecture to provide a gasket that feels and seals like high-grade EPDM but offers the dimensional precision and recyclability of a polymer. This unique structure ensures that our Santoprene™ seals do not “stress-crack” or degrade when exposed to the harsh UV and ozone conditions of outdoor service.

Manufacturing these gaskets at Kriloha involves strict Durometer Calibration. We offer Santoprene™ in a range of hardness levels, from soft 35 Shore A for delicate closures to a rigid 50 Shore D for structural spacers. Whether you are sealing a high-purity water line or a high-vibration automotive housing, Kriloha Santoprene™ Gaskets provide the environmental stamina and long-term elastic recovery your system demands. By choosing Kriloha Ltd., you are investing in a sustainable, high-efficiency sealing technology that eliminates the “aging” failures common in lower-grade rubber compounds.

Primary Use Cases

    • Potable Water Systems: The industry standard for gaskets and seals in municipal water treatment and plumbing fixtures due to its excellent aging resistance.
    • Food & Beverage Processing: Providing a clean, taste-neutral, and non-contaminating seal for liquid filling and transfer equipment.
    • Automotive Weather Seals: Used in under-the-hood and exterior applications where resistance to heat, ozone, and environmental weathering is critical.
    • Appliance & Consumer Goods: Providing durable, long-life seals for washing machines, dishwashers, and small kitchen appliances.

Medical & Pharmaceutical Gear: Utilized in non-implantable medical devices and diagnostic equipment where high-purity and flexibility are required.

FAQs

How does Santoprene™ compare to EPDM rubber?

Santoprene™ offers similar chemical and heat resistance to EPDM but provides significantly better flex fatigue resistance and more precise dimensional tolerances. It is also a “cleaner” material, often preferred for food and medical use.

Is Santoprene™ resistant to oil and grease?

While it handles many fluids well, Santoprene™ is not recommended for continuous exposure to petroleum-based oils, greases, or fuels. For oil-side service, Kriloha recommends our Nitrile (NBR) or Viton (FKM) gaskets.

What is the benefit of Santoprene™ in outdoor applications?

It has exceptional resistance to ozone and UV radiation. Unlike many standard rubbers that “chalk” or crack when exposed to sunlight over time, Santoprene™ maintains its physical properties and color.

Can these gaskets be used for high-pressure steam?

No. Santoprene™ is excellent for hot water and low-pressure steam up to its temperature limit (135°C). For high-pressure or superheated steam, Kriloha recommends our Flexible Graphite or Mineral Fiber gaskets.

Is Santoprene™ recyclable?

Yes. Because it is a thermoplastic vulcanizate, Santoprene™ can be reprocessed and recycled at the end of its service life, making it a more environmentally friendly choice compared to traditional vulcanized rubber.
