Expanded PTFE Joint Sealant Tape

Expanded PTFE Joint Sealant Tape

Core Features

  • 100% Multidirectionally Expanded PTFE: Manufactured through a specialized expansion process that creates a highly fibrous, multidirectional microstructure. This eliminates the “cold flow” and “creep” issues inherent in standard PTFE.
  • Self-Adhesive Backing: Features a high-tack, pressure-sensitive adhesive strip on one side for easy, “hands-free” installation on vertical or overhead flange faces.
  • Superior Compressibility: The soft, “marshmallow-like” texture allows the tape to conform effortlessly to irregular, pitted, or warped flange surfaces, creating a gas-tight seal at very low bolt loads.
  • Universal Chemical Resistance: Chemically inert across the entire 0–14 pH range, making it immune to aggressive acids, alkalis, solvents, and fuels (except for molten alkali metals and elemental fluorine).
  • High-Pressure Reliability: Once compressed, the fibrous structure densifies into a high-tensile-strength thin ribbon that resists blowouts, even under significant internal pressure.
  • FDA & USP Compliant: Produced from 100% virgin PTFE, ensuring it is non-contaminating, odorless, and safe for pharmaceutical and food-grade applications (FDA 21 CFR 177.1550).

At Kriloha Ltd., we understand that in large-scale industrial maintenance, “Convenience” must never come at the expense of “Integrity.” When you are standing on a 30-foot reactor, you don’t want to struggle with a bulky, pre-cut gasket that might not even fit. The Kriloha Expanded PTFE Joint Sealant Tape is our engineered answer for “On-Demand” high-performance sealing. As a premier global supplier of industrial seals, Kriloha Gaskets has perfected the Biaxial Expansion process required to turn rigid PTFE into a dynamic, flexible sealing ribbon.

The engineering of Kriloha Joint Sealant is based on Fibrillated Density. Standard PTFE is a solid plastic that “creeps” out of the joint under pressure. Our expansion process creates millions of interconnected microscopic fibers. When you tighten the bolts, these fibers compress and lock together, forming a dense, permanent barrier. At Kriloha, we ensure our tape maintains its Multidirectional Strength, meaning it resists stretching or thinning out in any one direction, even when exposed to high-velocity flow.

Manufacturing this tape at Kriloha involves strict Width-to-Thickness Calibration. We offer a full range of sizes, from 3mm to 50mm widths, provided on convenient spools for easy storage in a technician’s toolkit. Whether you are sealing a massive cooling tower or a delicate lab-scale reactor, Kriloha ePTFE Tape Gaskets provide the chemical invincibility and mechanical adaptability your facility demands. By choosing Kriloha Ltd., you are investing in a product that reduces downtime and eliminates the need to stock hundreds of different gasket sizes.

Primary Use Cases

  • Large Diameter Flanges: The ideal solution for sealing large-bore heat exchangers, manways, and vessel covers where pre-cut gaskets are impractical or expensive.
  • Fragile Equipment: Providing a safe, low-torque seal for Glass-Lined, Plastic, FRP, and Ceramic flanges where high bolt loads could cause cracking.
  • Emergency Repairs: A “universal” gasket-in-a-tin that allows maintenance teams to create custom-sized gaskets on-site without waiting for pre-cut deliveries.
  • Complex Geometries: Easily follows the contours of non-standard shapes, such as rectangular ductwork, turbine housings, and pump split-cases.
  • High-Purity Systems: Used in semiconductor and pharmaceutical manufacturing for chemical delivery lines and sterile processing.

FAQs

How do I choose the right width of tape for my flange?

A general rule of thumb is to select a tape width that is approximately 1/3 to 1/2 the width of the flange sealing surface. The tape will flatten and widen slightly when compressed.

Does the adhesive backing stay in the joint?

The adhesive is only meant to assist with installation. Once the flange is tightened, the mechanical pressure of the bolts creates the seal. The adhesive is formulated to be non-corrosive to the metal.

Can this tape be used for high-temperature steam?

Yes, it is rated for continuous use up to +260°C (500°F). Its high recovery makes it excellent for steam systems that undergo frequent thermal cycling.

How do I handle the “Overlap” during installation?

When the tape meets back at the starting point, you should overlap the two ends by approximately 20mm to 50mm (depending on tape size) right next to a bolt hole. This ensures there is no “leak path” at the junction.

Is there a shelf life for this product?

While PTFE itself never ages or degrades, the adhesive backing can lose its tackiness over several years. Kriloha recommends using the tape within 24–36 months for the best installation experience, though the sealing properties remain indefinitely.
