The architecture of a Kammprofile gasket is a masterclass in localized stress management. We start with a solid metallic core—usually 316L Stainless Steel—and machine concentric V-shaped grooves into both faces. This core is then laminated with a soft facing material, most commonly high-purity flexible graphite. When the flange bolts are tightened, the peaks of the grooves “bite” into the graphite, forcing it into every microscopic pit and scratch on the flange face. This creates a series of high-density concentric rings that act as independent barriers against the process media.
The Integral Outer Ring is a key feature of this Kriloha design. Unlike “Loose Ring” versions where the centering ring is a separate piece of metal, the Integral design machines the sealing core and the outer ring from one solid plate. This ensures that the centering ring can never be accidentally detached during shipping or installation. It also provides a definitive “compression stop,” preventing over-tightening and protecting the serrated core from being crushed.
