PTFE Valve Seats

PTFE Valve Seats

Core Features

  • High-Purity Virgin & Modified PTFE: Manufactured from 100% Virgin PTFE or reinforced “Second Generation” PTFE (Modified) to provide the ultimate chemical neutrality and structural integrity.
  • Near-Universal Chemical Inertness: Virtually unaffected by all known chemicals, including aggressive acids, strong alkalis, and solvents, ensuring the valve remains operational in the harshest media.
  • Low Torque Operation: Features a naturally “slick” surface with an extremely low coefficient of friction, reducing the torque required to actuate ball, butterfly, and plug valves.
  • Zero Leakage Performance: The material’s “plastic flow” allows it to conform perfectly to the ball or disc surface, creating a bubble-tight, bi-directional seal.
  • Extreme Temperature Stability: Maintains mechanical flexibility and sealing stamina from cryogenic temperatures (-200°C) up to continuous operating temperatures of +260°C.
  • Self-Lubricating Properties: Eliminates the need for external lubricants, preventing process contamination and reducing maintenance cycles in high-purity or dry-gas services.

At Kriloha Ltd., we understand that a valve is only as reliable as its seat. In the critical flow-control systems of refineries and chemical plants, the seat must withstand millions of cycles without losing its “bite.” The Kriloha PTFE Valve Seat is our high-precision answer to these demands. As a leading supplier of high-performance seals, Kriloha Gaskets has mastered the Sintering and CNC Machining processes required to produce seats with the microscopic tolerances needed for bubble-tight shut-off.

The engineering of a PTFE Valve Seat involves balancing “Sealing Ability” with “Wear Resistance.” While Virgin PTFE is ideal for high-purity and low-pressure applications, it can “creep” under high-cycle loads. For high-pressure service, Kriloha offers Reinforced PTFE Seats filled with Glass Fiber, Carbon, or Stainless Steel powder. These fillers act as “structural anchors,” drastically reducing cold flow and increasing the seat’s life-cycle in abrasive or high-velocity environments.

Manufacturing these seats at Kriloha requires absolute dimensional discipline. We utilize Multi-Axis CNC Lathes to ensure that the internal spherical radii match your valve ball perfectly, eliminating “dead zones” where media could stagnate. Every seat is inspected for surface finish and concentricity to ensure that your valve’s “Break-to-Open” torque remains consistent throughout its service life. By choosing Kriloha Ltd., you are investing in a component that protects your valve’s performance and ensures the safety of your entire pressure-control system.

Primary Use Cases

  • Ball Valves: The primary sealing ring for floating and trunnion-mounted ball valves in chemical and oil/gas service.
  • Butterfly Valves: Providing a resilient, chemically-resistant seat liner for high-performance butterfly valves.
  • Plug Valves: Ensuring a low-friction, high-integrity sleeve for sleeved plug valves.
  • Pharmaceutical & Food Processing: Meeting FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 standards for non-contaminating, sterile fluid control.
  • Cryogenic Valves: Providing reliable shut-off for liquid oxygen, nitrogen, and LNG transport systems.

FAQs

When should I use Modified PTFE instead of Virgin PTFE for a valve seat?

Modified PTFE (like TFM™) is preferred for high-cycle applications or higher pressures. It has significantly lower “creep” and a denser molecular structure, providing a longer service life than virgin material.

Does Kriloha offer “Fire-Safe” PTFE seats?

Standard PTFE is not fire-safe as it melts in extreme heat. However, Kriloha provides Secondary Metal Seats that act as a backup once the PTFE seat has been sacrificed in a fire event.

Can these seats handle abrasive media?

For media with small particles or slurries, Kriloha recommends Carbon-Filled or Glass-Filled PTFE, which offer much higher wear resistance than pure white PTFE.

Are these seats compatible with FDA regulations?

Yes. Our Virgin PTFE and specific Barium Sulfate-filled Modified PTFE seats are fully FDA and EU food contact compliant, making them safe for dairy, food, and medicine production.

What is the “Self-Relieving” design in Kriloha seats?

For ball valves trapped in a closed position, Kriloha can machine “pressure-relief” slots into the seat. This allows excess cavity pressure to escape into the pipeline, preventing valve body failure during thermal expansion.
