SS Reinforced PTFE Gasket (1300-M Style)

SS Reinforced PTFE Gasket (1300-M Style)

Core Features

  • Metallic Structural Core: Features a high-strength 316L Stainless Steel insert (perforated or expanded metal) encapsulated within a 100% Virgin PTFE matrix.
  • Anti-Cold-Flow Technology: The internal SS reinforcement acts as a mechanical “skeleton,” drastically reducing the “creep” or “cold flow” that causes pure PTFE gaskets to thin out and leak over time.
  • Universal Chemical Resistance: The outer PTFE layers provide a near-universal 0–14 pH barrier, shielding the metallic core from aggressive acids, alkalis, and solvents.
  • High-Pressure Integrity: Engineered to handle significantly higher internal pressures than standard or expanded PTFE, making it suitable for high-stress industrial piping.
  • Excellent Dimensional Stability: The reinforced structure ensures the gasket maintains its original thickness and width even under massive bolt loads and thermal fluctuations.
  • FDA & High-Purity Compliant: The exterior PTFE meets FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 standards, ensuring it is non-toxic, non-contaminating, and safe for pharmaceutical and food-grade services.

At Kriloha Ltd., we recognize that in the most aggressive chemical environments, “Inertness” is only half of the requirement—the other half is “Structural Stamina.” If a gasket is chemically resistant but cannot hold its shape under pressure, it will eventually fail. The Kriloha SS Reinforced PTFE Gasket (SUNWELL 1300-M Style) is our heavy-duty solution for high-pressure chemical containment. As a premier global provider of industrial seals, Kriloha Gaskets has mastered the lamination process required to bond virgin PTFE to a rigid stainless steel core.

The engineering of the SUNWELL 1300-M style is based on Mechanical Interlocking. We utilize a 316L Stainless Steel perforated plate (tanged core) as the internal reinforcement. During the manufacturing process, the PTFE is pressed through the perforations, effectively “pinning” the plastic in place. This means that even under extreme heat and pressure, the PTFE cannot “creep” or slide outward. At Kriloha, we ensure the PTFE layers are thick enough to provide a soft, conformable seal while the steel core provides the “blow-out” protection required for hazardous media.

Manufacturing these gaskets at Kriloha involves precision High-Pressure Sintering. This ensures the bond between the metal and the plastic is permanent and free of air pockets. The result is a gasket that handles the “creep” of a plastic and the “crush” of a metal. By choosing Kriloha Ltd., you are investing in a product that eliminates the need for frequent re-torquing, providing the long-term safety and mechanical integrity your high-pressure assets demand.

Primary Use Cases

  • High-Pressure Chemical Piping: Handling concentrated Sulfuric, Nitric, and Hydrochloric acids where standard gaskets would extrude.
  • Chlorine & Alkali Service: Providing a robust, non-reactive seal for volatile gas and liquid chlorine transport.
  • Pharmaceutical Reactors: Ideal for high-pressure synthesis loops where chemical purity and mechanical stamina are both required.
  • Pulp & Paper Industry: Resisting the aggressive “black liquor” and bleaching chemicals used in wood processing.
  • Steam & Condensate Lines: Managing the thermal expansion of steam systems without the “relaxation” common in pure plastic gaskets.

FAQs

Why use an SS reinforced gasket instead of an Expanded PTFE gasket?

While Expanded PTFE is excellent for low-torque and worn flanges, the SS reinforced (1300-M) style is superior for high-pressure applications and systems where “blow-out” protection is a critical safety requirement.

Is the stainless steel core protected from the chemical media?

Yes. The PTFE layers are laminated over the metal to act as a shield. However, we use 316L Stainless Steel as our standard core specifically to provide secondary corrosion resistance in case the PTFE is mechanically damaged during installation.

What is the maximum pressure rating for this style?

The SS reinforced design can typically handle pressures up to 100 Bar (1500 PSI), depending on the flange rating and operating temperature.

Does this gasket require high bolt torque?

It requires higher torque than a soft rubber or expanded PTFE gasket, but significantly less than a solid metal gasket. It is designed to work perfectly with standard Class 150 and Class 300 raised-face flanges.

Can I get these in custom shapes?

Absolutely. Kriloha utilizes CNC Waterjet Cutting to produce custom IDs, ODs, and complex geometries without damaging the internal steel core or compromising the PTFE bond.
