What is the advantage of Corrugated Tape over Flat Graphite Tape?

The corrugations allow the tape to be wrapped into circles or complex shapes without cracking. It also provides a thicker “cushion,” which is better for filling deep pits or irregularities on older flange faces.

How do I install this on a flange?

Simply peel the adhesive backing and apply the tape to the flange face. When you complete the circle, overlap the ends by approximately 10mm to 20mm at a bolt hole to ensure there is no leak path.

Does this tape require a separate sealant?

No. Flexible graphite is a “self-sealing” material. Under bolt pressure, it densifies and flows into the microscopic textures of the metal, creating a bubble-tight seal without the need for messy pastes.

Can I use this for “Emergency” Valve Packing?

Yes. You can wrap the tape around a valve stem and compress it into the stuffing box using the packing gland. The corrugations will crush down into a solid, high-density graphite ring.
